As one of Germany’s most traditional football clubs, we have refined our identity for the digital future. Guided by the principle “Preserve tradition, shape the modern,” we partnered with our agency Nochne GmbH to develop a modular design system that honours more than 75 years of history while providing maximum flexibility. A structured, scalable system ensures consistent design across all channels — digital and physical alike. Clearly defined sub-brands are given their own strong stage, united under the umbrella of a future-ready 1. FC Köln brand. A system that now expresses the full diversity of the club.

The Jury‘s Statement

Heritage brands often face a conflict between preserving their roots and remaining relevant. 1. FC Köln’s new identity resolves this through a clearly defined brand system: the crest and core colours remain as the identity-forming centre, while typography, imagery and digital elements are newly organised in a modular way. Particularly relevant for the corporate brand is the carefully developed sub-brand architecture, which gives different areas their own profile while binding them within a shared visual logic. This creates a brand that can manage its diversity with structural precision.
