How-to

From idea to award – here's how to get your submission ready.

  • 1. Who Can Enter and How?

Registered companies, agencies, service providers and institutions from all sectors – both national and international – are eligible to enter the German Brand Awards. Individuals, including graduates, are not eligible to enter.

    Have you been nominated?
The German Design Council has noticed your project and sees outstanding potential in it. You will receive a written invitation and can view your nominated project directly in the portal. You can then decide whether to accept the nomination.

Would you like to enter your project yourself?
You can, of course, also submit your project yourself. Following an internal review, you will be informed whether it meets the formal requirements for participation. If your project is not accepted, you will not incur any costs.

    Good to know:
A service fee applies if your project receives an award. In return, you receive a comprehensive service package that includes a label, a personalised document, an online presentation and much more. You can find an overview of fees here.

  • 2. Your Entry

Entries to the German Brand Awards are submitted through our portal. Don’t have an account yet? Register with your email address.

You will be asked to provide the following information:

    • Select a discipline and category for your project, plus an additional category if applicable
    • Entry title
    • Designation (German and English)
    • Descriptive text in German and English (max. 650 characters each)
    • Website/URL
    • Year and place of market launch
    • Details of the developers, manufacturers and commissioning clients
    • Images (max. six images; PNG, JPG or JPEG; between 500 px and 6,000 px; max. 50 MB)
    • Project video
    • Billing address
    • Optional nominee package

Time required: Allow around 35 minutes to complete your registration.

Please note that the information and image and text material you submit will be used both for the jury session and, if your project receives an award, for publication. Find more information about the presentation materials here.

If your project is named a winner or receives gold, we will email you with the result and the next steps. A service fee applies in this case.

  • 3. Your Project Receives an Award

If your project receives an award, we will present it, together with the jury statement, in the online gallery. Before publication, you will receive a preview link to your project profile so you can check the description, credits and main image. The online gallery goes live on the day of the Awards Show, presenting your project to an international audience.

To support your communications, you will receive, among other things:

    • A winner or gold label
    • An award clip for social media
    • Ready-to-use text

Please note: You may only announce your award from the day of the Awards Show. Celebrate your award at the Awards Show in Berlin and take the opportunity to connect with other winners. You will receive an invitation by email in good time, with instructions on how to register yourself and your guest for the Awards Show.
