Details
One day in 2024, a film reel is discovered in a bag at a coat check inside Hanau City Hall. The reel contains previously unknown footage that must have been filmed in the first days after the destruction of Hanau on March 19, 1945. The creator of the recordings remains unknown to this day. The discovery inspired the representatives of Hanau’s Department of Culture to launch a communications campaign to mark the 80th anniversary of the devastating attack on Hanau. The agency digitalnaturals* translated the campaign into the appropriate formats and channels to effectively reach the designated target group: young people!
The Jury‘s Statement
Commemorative communication for young people often fails because of distance, tone and format. For the City of Hanau, digitalnaturals* takes a different approach: historical film material, eyewitness accounts and contemporary perspectives are condensed into a campaign that does not frame the occasion as a museum piece, but anchors it in the target group's everyday life. Website, exhibition, urban space and social media follow a clear dramaturgy and give the topic a shared language across all touchpoints. This results in communication that translates historical responsibility into a contemporary brand presence.
