Details
In August, Caspar David Friedrich took Piccadilly Circus by storm in unique 3D images and inspired more than 11 million visitors in two weeks. This was accompanied by breathtaking 2D image and video material that emphasised the diverse beauty of Germany. The occasion for the campaign is the 250th anniversary of the German Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich, which is being celebrated this year.
The Jury‘s Statement
The London office of the German National Tourist Board attracted maximum attention with its spectacular video show at Piccadilly Circus. The clip combined worthwhile travel destinations in Germany with images of the German Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich and, with the claim "Stay a little bit longer", invited visitors to discover and celebrate the diverse beauty of Germany as part of the 250th anniversary of the artist's birth. The idea of using culture as a guideline by combining the artist's visually powerful works of nature with experience and recreation is ingenious and was realised at a high creative level. A visual message could hardly be conveyed more clearly and emotionally.
