The product design is based on the guidelines of the Bauhaus movement: Form follows function; the use of authentic materials; a minimalist and straightforward style as well as the harmonious combination of technology and design are the guidelines to which the Bauhaus brand connects. The timepieces are manufactured in the watchmaking town of Ruhla, in a historic, listed Bauhaus-style building which used to be part of the giant VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla clock- and watch factory.
The Jury‘s Statement
In the premium watch segment, it is not references to provenance that matter, but their credible fulfilment within the brand experience. Bauhaus ties the principles of the design school it is named after not only to the form of the collection, but also to production, setting and brand expression. The reduced design follows a functional logic, while technical substance remains visibly integrated. The fact that the watches are made in a listed Bauhaus building in Ruhla anchors the brand claim culturally as well as materially and lends it rare plausibility.
