Club Design Mainz 05

Description

Mainz 05 is a professional football club playing in the highest German league – the Bundesliga. The whole club Mainz 05 was and is in a state of transition. It needed to define and establish a sustainable identity – especially through a new and fresher club design, including a personal font to differentiate itself as much as possible from other clubs. The result is a new, modern appearance, which can be used modularly, flexibly and generatively.

Statement of the jury

Mainz 05, a football club rich in tradition, is experiencing a time of change. This has been made visible through its new and well-thought-out identity. In doing so, the new design was plausibly derived from the brand name and a coherent and exacting overall appearance was implemented. Excellent work, which has reinterpreted the nostalgia for, and identification with, the past, in an attractive way, and has made Mainz 05 fit for the future.
