Through the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany overcame the most significant division imaginable. But today, society is again deeply divided on many issues, especially in social networks. On anniversary of the fall of the wall, social startup »Diskutier Mit Mir« (Discuss with me) made the many opposing opinions and prejudices visible for the first time as an AR experience and thus encouraged people to start a dialogue with those who think differently by overcoming their »invisible walls.«

Statement of the jury

To erect life-size augmented reality installations in the form of 3-metre-high and up to 60-metre-long border walls in the middle of Berlin from authentic hate comments on the net – and exactly where it is now divided on the basis of opinions and income – creates awareness in an intensive way – on both sides. The fact that the wall elements could be virtually knocked over by tapping on them and thus start anonymous 1:1 chats with dissenters is a great idea that was also very well implemented. A strong action against walls of opinion in the mind and thus a socially relevant contribution to more tolerance.
